Edit Post - Smart filters and Adjustment layers

For this photo I increased contrast and decreased saturation slightly then masked out the flower so the yellow would be more vibrant more than the rest of the picture. I used flexible editing layers.

Brown Eyed Girl

Date: 9/25/10 Time: 8:53 a.m. Location: Hobble Creek Canyon F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed:1/50 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: poster edges, diffuse glow, exposure

This past weekend I went to Utah and did a photo shoot with my sisters kids. This is Tayler, my brown eyed girl. I experimented with filters and adjusting the exposure of the picture. I like the poster edges because it gives her more of a cartoon feel and really brings out the comedic expressions on her face.

Idaho Falls Temple

Date: 9/26/10 Time: 7:34 a.m. Location: Idaho Falls, ID F-stop: f/3.5 Shutter Speed:1/30 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: adjustment layers with multiply blending mode

For this picture I wanted to adjust the sky to really bring out the colors that were in the sky that night. I added the multiply blending mode which made the temple too dark but was perfect for the sky. I then used the brush and masked out where the temple was to brighten it. Beautiful evening!

Flora and Fauna

Beee Happy

Date: 9/25/10 Time: 10:39 a.m. Location: Springville, UT F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed:1/200 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Color enhanced

I love this picture. I love the composition of the focal point flower with the submissive blurry flower in the background. I enhanced the color on this picture to make the yellow more vibrant.

Pink Trumpets

Date: 9/25/10 Time: 10:37 a.m. Location: Springville, UT F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed:1/500sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Exposure Adjusted

These are some flowers outside my sisters house down in Utah. For this picture I adjusted the exposure.

A touch of Gold

Date: 9/25/10 Time: 9:37 a.m. Location: Springville, UT F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed:1/250 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Exposure adjusted, color enhanced, cropping

This is my "fauna" picture. (The instructions said it could be an insect) While visiting my sister this weekend she took me up to a field full of these flowers and bees buzzing all over. This is one of my favorites. I adjusted the exposure and color and cropped the picture for better composition.

Fall Leaves

Date: 9/25/10 Time: 9:32 a.m. Location: Beaverton, Oregon F-stop: f/4.5 Shutter Speed:1/500sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: saturation and contrast increased

I like this picture because there is a lot of contrast between the fall leaves and the blue sky above. For this picture I increased the saturation and contrast to bring out the colors more.

"Blinded" by the Light: This photo was a combination of the two below. I thought it was really cool the effect that the blinds put on the car. It looks like the sun is shining down right on it!

Photos of History

Cape Disappointment

Date: 8/1/10 Time: 2:10 p.m. Location: Cape Disappointment, WA F-stop: f/10 Shutter Speed: 1/250 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Black and White Filter

While waiting for my parents outside the lighthouse I wanted to get a good shot illustrating the beauty of the lighthouse. I made sure to offset the composition of the lighthouse using the rule of 3rds. I love how the camera was able to capture the detail of the rustic worn look of the lighthouse and I added and adjusted a black and white filter to bring that out even more.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Date: 7/31/10 Time: 10:37 a.m. Location: Beaverton, Oregon F-stop: f/5 Shutter Speed: 1/80 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Color enhanced

This photo was taken at a farmers market in Beaverton Oregon. There was such gorgeous produce there and I love the contrast between the red and yellow peppers. The different shapes and sizes also add texture.

Over the Edge

Date: 7/30/10 Time: 4:34 p.m. Location: Multnomah Falls, Oregon F-stop: f/4 Shutter Speed: 1/40 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Fresco filter

I am not someone who is comfortable with heights... so I literally felt sick taking this picture. While up at Multnomah Falls in Oregon I braved taking a shot over the edge of the bridge half way up the falls. I added a photo filter to give it a more vibrant feel.

6 Years

Date: 7/1/10 Time: 9:34 a.m. Location: Ephrata, WA F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed: 1/80 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Enhanced coloring

This photo was taken out at an old barn just outside of Ephrata, Washington. My sister was having me take their family pictures for them and this was one of my favorites. I was able to remove a cold sore from Jason's face and enhanced the color in the picture.

Lost in Snow Canyon

Date: 5/30/10 Time: 6:43 p.m. Location: Snow Canyon, Utah F-stop: f/6.3 Shutter Speed: 1/80 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Saturation

I was able to take this picture while hiking up in Snow Canyon in southern Utah. I love this shot and the lighting was perfect that evening for taking pictures. I used the rule of 3rds while taking this picture and offset Tayler to the side to show the immensity of the canyon.

London

Date: 5/29/10 Time: 7:28 p.m. Location: St. George, Utah F-stop: f/4.5 Shutter Speed: 1/400 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Contrast increased

London is one of my favorite kids to take picture of. She always has great expressions on her face. I placed the flower on her ear hoping to get one with her smiling. But this is what I got. There wasn't much editing done in this picture. I slightly increased the contrast.

The Watering Hole

Date: 5/28/10 Time: 11:54 a.m. Location: St. George, Utah F-stop: f/10 Shutter Speed: 1/250 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Black and White Filter

We had a run in with a very difficult drinking fountain while playing in the park. Tayler, my 3 year old niece was determined to do it by herself but she ended up getting a good shot of water in the face. The shutter speed on this camera is amazing and I just love how it was able to catch the water in mid air.
