Scanography

Spiritual Guidance

One Scan: 10/23/2010 12:52 PM
This scan collage is spiritually themed. I placed the bookmark, scriptures, and highlighter on the scanner to represent the studying of the gospel. I really like the edge effect and border that I was able to add to the photo also.

Happy Breakfast

Collage Scan: 10/23/2010 12:59 PM
This montage was created from three different scans. The Cheerios, the spoon, and the bowl. I covered the scanner with a box but it still captured the texture of the folds. I really like the texture it added however.

Camera Raw

Chair

Date: 9/29/10 Time: 1:51 p.m.Location: Bannack, MT F-stop: f/4 Shutter Speed:1/100 sec.Camera: Cannon Rebel T2iEditing: Dynamic Photo

Date: 10/10/10 Time: 5:35 p.m. Location: Rexburg, ID F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed:1/1600 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i

I really like how this photo turned out. Camera Raw is a miracle. It edits pictures so beautifully and I feel like I have more control over it than photoshop. When I took the photo, I knew I should meter on the sky and let the foreground be dark - I could salvage that later. And that's what I did. So thats my tip: When in doubt, take a dark picture. You can fix it later.

Panoramic #2

Date: 10/8/10 Time: 8:12 a.m. Location: Bannack, MT F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed:1/100 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i

I had to post a second panoramic photo I took. They are both pretty much the same but I really like the angle that's on this one. If i remember correctly I tilted the camera so it took the pictures at an angle. Again, photo editing really makes a difference.

Panoramic #1

Date: 10/8/10 Time: 8:12 a.m. Location: Bannack, MT F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed:1/100 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i

I got up early on Saturday and headed out to the sand dunes in hopes to get some good panoramic photos for this project. I was kind of disappointed at how dreary and cloudy the morning was... but it's amazing what you can do with photo editing! I really like how this one turned out.

Bannack Best

Here are just a few of my favorites from the trip. I'd love to go back up and spend more time. I love capturing a lot of contrasting colors in my photos and I think that really brings out a lot in them. I especially like Yellow Walls. The photo really captures the old, wearing feel of the room that was once beautiful.

HDR - Bannack Trip

Stove

Date: 9/29/10 Time: 1:27 p.m. Location: Bannack, MT F-stop: f/13 Shutter Speed:1/30 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Dynamic Photo

It was a really good experience to use this program! This is such a cool editing technique and I know I'll use it a lot in the future.

Macro - Bannack Trip

Texture

Macro

Date: 9/29/10 Time: 9:40 a.m. Location: Bannack, MT F-stop: f/6.3 Shutter Speed:1/200 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Camera Raw, adjusted exposure and contrast

Abstract

I really like these pictures and the Abstract final product that came out. The wood texture put a cool worn look on top of the cement water pipe. I thought it was really cool that the top of the pipe had that vivid blue.

Reverse Shallow Depth - Bannack Trip

School House

Fence

Date: 9/29/10 Time: 3:00 p.m. Location: Bannack, MT F-stop: f/5.6 Shutter Speed:1/400 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Camera Raw, adjusted exposure, contrast, and saturation increased on sky
*Same info for both pictures

This is a very cool technique to get a variety of depths in your picture. If both the fence and school house were in focus they would blend in to each other. But since one is more in focus than the other it gives a very real depth of field.

Action Blur & Freeze - Bannack Trip

Jump

Ghost

Date: 9/29/10 Time: 12:30 p.m. Location: Bannack, MT F-stop: f/22 Shutter Speed: 20 sec. Camera: Cannon Rebel T2i Editing: Camera Raw, exposure

I loved taking these pictures, especially the ghost one. It was a good experience and I really learned a lot about shutter speed and getting correct exposure to make a person appear transparent.
